Week 1, Term 3

Wow - we are half way through the year already -   I hope everyone had a good break.

Please remember to bring back your reading logs this week.  If you did not get a form, write down the books you have read over the holidays on a piece of paper with your name and class number at the top.

Everyone will need their PE gear on TUESDAY every week this term.  You will be learning your part for the school production.

NEXT WEEK (week 2) we will be going to the Government Gardens for a local history lesson.  This is being run by the Rotorua Museum staff.  We must have parent helpers, or the trip cannot go ahead.  Please let me know THIS WEEK, by email, if you are able to help.  We will be leaving school at approximately 9.15 on Thursday 4 August and return to school at approximately 11.45.  You would need to remain with the group for the entire time.  We will travel there and back by bus.

Homework in Room 5 is self-regulated.  What do I mean by that? You are responsible for making sure you are doing the following every week:

15 minutes (minimum) reading every night.  The key to becoming a great writer is being a regular reader.

15 minutes Mathswhizz – Monday to Friday.

Spelling – learn the words on your list every week.

For some students – learn your times tables.  There are still far too many students in Room 5 for whom this is a big problem.  Practice every day!

Sometimes there will be other tasks but the ones listed above are ongoing.
